I like to create things

The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.

I like to create things

“What makes you happy?”

“I like to create things.”

“What things?”

“Things that can be made from old newspapers.”

“Like what?”

“Like this diya I’m making for Diwali … and many other things like table mats, lamp shades, pen stands, paper bags, jewelry.”

“All out of newspapers?”

“Yes, all out of newspapers.”

“What were you doing before you started this?”

“I was studying. I graduated from high school.”

Diya

In a small nondescript Indian village, where education and earning money were alien terms for most women few years back, ACT (Action Center for Transformation) is changing the way the women think. They are empowering the women … teaching them how to “throw yourself.” ACT is helping them with their education and imparting them with technical skills. It’s transforming the women by inspiring them to be creative and providing them with an opportunity to earn a livelihood. And in the process they are lighting up our lives as well. 🙂

To get in touch with them for volunteer work and/or to buy their products visit their website and/or their Facebook page. Go ahead … go beyond donating … throw yourself.

The journey has just begun.
