I Now Have an Identity

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.

I Now Have an Identity

“What makes you happy?”

“I like it when people appreciate our work.”

“What has been your greatest struggle?”

“The constant fear of being a woman … hiding behind a veil … and not being able to talk to strangers.”

“And now?”

“Everything has changed! There is no fear. I have an identity now. People know me by my name. When I go to other villages to train, the women there call me ‘didi.'”

“Do you face any challenges while training other women?”

“No. I don’t try to be a teacher. I go as a friend. I talk to them about everyday things. I listen to their challenges and share mine. We share ideas. I train them and we both learn.”

“Can you show me one of your products?”

“Sure. These are some of the pen stands we’re making.”

“They’re wonderful!”

In a small nondescript Indian village, where women used to live in constant fear and hide behind veils, ACT (Action Center for Transformation) is changing the way the women think. They are empowering the women … teaching them how to be independent and how to be of service to others. And in the process helping them to find a purpose and find themselves.

To get in touch with ACT for volunteer work and/or to buy their products visit their website and/or their Facebook page. Go ahead … go beyond donating … find yourself.

The journey has just begun.
